Peshitta significa "claro, direto, comum, simples". O texto da peshitta é um antigo texto em aramaico. No tempo de Jesus Cristo, o aramaico era a língua da Palestina, porque os judeus haviam adotado isso no tempo do exílio, deixando o hebraico como uma linguagem de adoração.

O texto Peshitta tem suas origens desde o final do segundo século, embora seu manuscrito mais antigo seja de 534 d.C. Os tradutores preferem não dar sua opinião quanto à grande questão se o Novo Testamento foi escrito principalmente em grego ou aramaico (ver página X).

Peshitta means "clear, straightforward, ordinary, simple". The peshitta text is an ancient Aramaic text. In the time of Jesus Christ, Aramaic was the language of Palestine, because the Jews had adopted it at the time of exile, leaving Hebrew as a language of worship.

The Peshitta text has its origins since the late second century, although its oldest manuscript is from 534 AD Translators prefer not to give their opinion on the big question whether the New Testament was written primarily in Greek or Aramaic (see page X).

One of the most interesting aspects is that the translation was made by Hispanics, and represents an effort to bring to the Spanish-speaking people an ancient version of Scripture in a way that is faithful to ancient manuscripts and understandable in our contemporary language.
